WOW! COOL HUH!

Hi guys

Eli here...ive had the most amazing few days...(although i think mums HEAPS more excited than I)...

I bagged a gig on TV! - for the good friday appeal!! And was a bit upset i think cause mum and dad were hogging the limelight, so i let everyone know that it was all about ME! Man, i put on a turn that i reckon gippsland could hear! Although i thought mum and dad would be embarrased, they just cracked up laughing...and are STILL laughing about it today...hopefully aunty hayley will add a piccie of me, mum and dad with the guy "Nick" who interviewed us...even HE thought it was funny...ITS ALL ABOUT ME!!!!!!!!! grrrr...

Anyways...easter was pretty cool, we just hung out..i was a bit grizzly, i had to have platelets a couple of times last week to pep me up, but i tried to tell mum that my gums were a bit sore...i reckon if my arm fell off she wouldnt notice! Finally she clicked yesterday morning when she chucked her finger in my mouth and discovered that my first tooth has popped through! Man is she excited...Ive got a few things in store for her, especially since im still on the boobs! Dont tell her though!

Mum was completely stoked yesterday when we heard a whisper a couple of the geelong footy team were due to visit the starlite room at the hospital...not to let a good thing go, she woke me up from my sleep, and expected me to be cheery! As you will see by the time i had finished with 'Cameron Mooney', i was a bit happier to be with 'Tom Harley'. Mum was in absolute heaven and was very quick to get photos of me with the players...dunno what all the fuss is about really...i hear that mum absolutely loves geelong, and dad is mad collingwood...i reckon i will probably end up with something completely different! but at the moment, im happy to swing between the two!

i have a dr's appt today, i think we will be chatting about my next round of chemo, and spleen stuff again....once we know whats going on, we will let you know.

We wont be too far off knowing our final combined tally for the leukaemia foundation..hopefully by the end of next week...so we would like to say thanks again to everyone for all their sponsership...bloody awesome!

anyways...i best fly...mums itchy for a coffee and is nagging me to get off the computer...!
lots of love, hugs and sunshine

Shave and Colour day At Bairnsdale DSE

Worlds Greatest Shave at Bairnsdale DSE Office
14th March 2008
Bald Heads at the Bairnsdale DSE All of the "Shave for a Cure" volunteers in the hot seat, were happy to lose their woolly heads, beards and long hair as Friday morning in the courtyard of the Bairnsdale DSE Office was really warm!! As the temperature rose - the locks fell. The crowd of on lookers were treated to Crusty the Clown look alikes, groans from the brave soul who had his chest waxed and dazzled by the hot pink hairdoos. We all enjoyed the show whilst scoffing the morning tea bounty that everyone brought with them. The Bairnsdale Office rallied together to raise approx $3600 and were supported generously from the Lindenow Rd Work Centre where a raffle was organised, Traralgon and Orbost Offices and the local CFA Headquarters. Those shaving also collected donations from friends and family. The morning was a great success with 8 shaving heads/beads and 5 colouring their hair. We were thinking of you Jodes, Pete and Eli and everyone sends their best wishes. Hope you enjoy the photos. Love Kisses and Hugs Nat, Donna and Belinda.

hope you enjoy the pic's.

Hospital update

Hi there guys
Eli (and mum) here!

all is going well...i had a small infection (probably a cold) and spent the weekend in hospital...i got some platelets (mum reckons they look like custard!) but it all went well, and i was out again by monday...ok though, cause it was so hot outside.

I was glad to be out and was pretty good at home...almost slept through, one small wakening at 4am but dad was a magician and got me back to sleep in no time flat!

Ive got heaps of people to thank for their support through the shave for a cure!

we would like to thank:
All those awesome people who donated moolah! i think we are going to be somewhere between 12,000-15,000...what a fantastic effort (combined tally!)

the entertainment centre at lakes for holding a night on our behalf...looks like you guys had an absolute hoot!

emma from Cutz in Lakes...she shaved all the heads on friday 14th for us at the Lakes Fisheries Depot

Donna, Nat, Belinda and leona for their ongoing support and for organising the cut at bairnsdale...they managed to raise almost 3000! ABSOLUTELY AWESOME EFFORT! And to all those people who put their heads, beards and chest hair on the line (we heard you screaming from here Phil E!)

Belinda Stevens and candice basham for organising the shave at head office...it went really well with our ED now bald - and not too bad on the eye!

Thanks to nana from bacchus marsh and lesley for cooking us some grub...Yummo!

Thanks to ALL those generous people who put their noggins/beards/moes/hair on the line for the leukaemia foundation...you are all just the absolute best!

last but not least Aunty hayley for stepping into mums shoes and running the whole kit and caboodle while we have been up here in melbourne! she has been so great with running the show as well as running her own very busy family...we thank you heaps hayley!

We would also like to thank all of you for continuing to send us all your love and wishes to us...we have said it once before, and we will keep saying it...it really does keep us all going!

we have a long way to go, but are looking forward to going home. i would be so happy to be out by my first birthday...so we are counting down for that now!

look after yourselves wont you...and keep the txts/comments coming...we love them!

My 'superman juice' is working!

Hi everyone

Mum had a quick chance to get away and say hello to everyone for me...so GIDDAY!!
Im doing ok...im on my 4th day of chemo today...one more to go...then im hoping we get a few days at home (At rons house). There is a good chance i will be back in hospital as i will be much more susceptible to cooties, but we will take it as it comes.
We are all pretty bushed, as there are usually heaps of interruptions at night. Dad had nite shift last nite, and i was pretty much up almost every hour! poor dad...i was ok, but he was looking pretty ragged this morning...
We are looking forward to leaving hospital for a few days of 'normality!'.
my 'superman juice' is working well...my counts have come down from an average of 52 to 18 yesterday...finally within 'normal range'...i had a blood transfusion yesterday as well..so ive perked up a fair bit.
I got a 'bravery' certificate on friday for when they put my hickman line in...i reckon i was pretty brave too...
we are currently at the childrens cancer centre - Level 6 on the ward up there. its pretty cool, im close to my friends jared and connor. they are both doing pretty well too...i started my superman juice when jared started his. mum and dad are happy too cause they get to see chris and scott a fair bit now too. Mum reckons they are really funny too.
mum has a new mission at the moment...and she would like to thank ALL of you who will be supporting it. When we stayed on level 8 - the neurological ward, there was a sign that was asking for clothes to be donated to the level. When mum asked why, a nurse said that there were a few kids that came in with nothing, and would like to have the opportunity to wear 'normal' clothes instead of the gowns they provide - trust me, they are a bit embarrassing cause people can see your bum through the back! So a few texts later, all my mums mates have rallied together in a bit of a 'clothes drive' to donate to this wonderful ward...the nurses there really are great (and very very cute!) SOOOO THANKS HEAPS on behalf of the kids who will never have to show their bums again!
the other thing that mum will mention is that the cancer ward only has plain bandaids...when mum asked why they didnt have coloured ones, apparently they are not supplied any more and they rely a bit on donated bandaids and stickers...so to start THAT ball rolling, mum has donated our 'simpson' bandaids to the ward, and will be looking out for stickers for the kids too.
Anyways...thats my story for now...hopefully aunty hayley will have some pics up from the night last friday at the entertainment centre, and we will definitely put pics up when dad has his hair done on thursday...we are very excited!

anyways..love all you guys, and thanks again heaps for everything, all your love and kisses. Mum would like to thank our dear mates from bairnsdale for the beautiful flowers and bottle of wine they sent us to 'keep our spirits high'. i know it sounds a bit corny, but knowing that all you guys are out there keeping an eye on us is more than enough to ensure our spirits soar!

lots of luv and hugs

Treatment Begins for Eli

Hi everyone.
Sorry it has taken me a little while to update the blog. I havents had the oppertunity to chat with Jodes over the phone in awhile, however we have been in contact via sms. Eli began his chemotherapy today. (Saturday 8th). He had a surgical procedure yesterday where a hickman's line was put in place in preparation for chemo. As to be expected he was a little sore and still is today. It was up in the air for a few day's in respect to the tummy tests Eli had done on wednesday, the drs suspected that it was allergic collitis, which meant that Jodes would have to stop feeding Eli and feed him a lactose intolerance formula, however results Friday indicated that it was in fact leukaemia cells in his tummy. So the fortunate news is that Jodes can continue to breastfeed Eli. So as chemotherapy continues over the next week, i will try my hardest to update and fill you in on there progress.
Last night The Entertainment Centre held a shave for a cure function in aid of raising funds for the Leukaemia Foundation. The night was a huge success, with lot's of money raised, and many new bald heads around. The total raised is not yet known, but it looked to be exceeding $2500.
I will keep in touch
Hayley.....

Looks like its time for some treatment!

Hi all, it's Hayley here (Eli's Aunty). Just want to give you a little update on how things are going.
Jodes, Pete and Eli are still in Melbourne. Eli seen the tummy Dr on monday who is going to do a couple of procedures tomorrow (wednesday), to see why Eli's little tummy is always so upset. Eli's bloods were also done and are sitting at 52. They are yet to meet the transplant Dr Karin, she is obviously a very busy lady. Hopefully they get to see her later this week.
So as it stands it looks like Eli will have a hickman line put in on friday, with also the possibilty of chemo starting friday or possibly early next week. Its very 'up in the air' at the moment and until Jodes and Pete find ot more, they continue just taking each day as it comes. Its pretty certain now though that they will be in Melbourne from now until Eli receives his transplant. Whilst they are in Melbourne i will do my best at keeping you all informed on what is happening.

On a positive note Jodes told me a little story today, They went into the city today, when they sat down to have a cuppa Eli woke up. They jumped on a tram to get back to ronalds house, but had to get off a stop early coz the 'officers' were checking tram tickets!! this was a problem as Jodes had only brought 1 ticket (she only had enuff change for 1)! when officers were checking tickets jodes crapped herself and said to Pete we gotta get off at the next stop!
They managed to get off and escape a fine - Jodes and i had a great laugh bout this! thought you might enjoy that little story too!
